Jennifer Scott is a three-time Academy Award nominee and two-time winner, who has been making cinema since the early ’80s. This February, she’ll be celebrating her 35th anniversary in the film industry. In this interview with The Huffington Post, Jennifer talks about her early days in Hollywood and some of her favorite memories from the past three decades.
1) How did you get your start in filmmaking?
I started out as an actor, but I quickly realized that I loved making films more than anything else. I got my start working on low-budget independent films in the early ’80s. It was a very different time then – there were no movie theaters showing movies with subtitles, so it was really important to get your work seen by as many people as possible.
2) What are some of your favorite memories from over the past three decades in the film industry?
There are so many great memories! I’ve worked on some amazing projects with some great people and I’ve had the chance to meet so many fascinating people along the way. Some of my favorites include working on “Thelma & Louise” with Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis; directing “The Cake Eaters” starring Ellen Page and Paul Walker, and writing and directing “Half Nelson” starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.
